I started my journey with photography when I was in Iraq with the U.S. Army. I had a simple but rugged Olympus Stylus 410, which suited the similarly rough conditions of Iraq. The little camera served me well for about two years - including a road trip around the Western United States.
Shortly after that trip, I upgraded to a Panasonic FZ5, a compact super zoom. It was my first real “photography” camera. I put a good 3,500 shots through that camera traveling throughout the West Coast.
Ultimately, the Panasonic FZ5 just didn’t have the versatility that I needed or wanted and it was time to finally dive into the DSLR world with an Olympus E-500. Getting my hands on a DSLR refined and honed my skills in a way a pure consumer camera couldn’t.
After college, I moved across the country to NYC and photography took a backseat to my career. I sold my aged camera and relied almost entirely on my phone camera. My job sent me all around the country, leading to thousands of photos - and a sprawling Instagram page.
In 2018, I got a “real” camera again - a Panasonic Lumix GX-85 - and rekindled my love for photography. For about a year it was my trusty companion as I traveled across the Northeast. In 2019, I took the next step, to take photos for people and organizations to help them tell their stories.
